Tooth Removal Treatment

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth and is most often performed because a tooth has sustained damage or decay, or cannot be saved by Root Canal treatment. There are other reasons for the need to remove a tooth such as gum disease; whatever the cause, our experienced clinicians will start by assessing your tooth with X-rays. If you think you might need a tooth removed, get in touch with us now to book you in for an assessment at our central London clinic, in the heart of Marylebone.

Why are teeth removed?

There are a number of reasons why you may need to have a tooth or teeth removed.

Some of the common reasons include;

  • Overcrowding- when your teeth don’t have enough space in your jaw. If you are getting braces, you may need a tooth removed to allow the others to move into place
  • Excessive tooth decay
  • Gum disease
  • Tooth infection
  • A broken tooth that can’t be repaired

Tooth extraction is usually a last resort and a dentist will look at all the available options to repair a tooth before considering tooth extraction. Our team at Marylebone Dental Care will discuss all of the options with you enabling you to make an informed decision about your dental care.

What happens during a tooth extraction procedure?

Depending on the position and state of the tooth, our dentist should be able to remove the tooth under local anaesthetic at our Marylebone Dental Care practice. In some severe situations, we may recommend that the tooth is removed in a surgical setting at a hospital.

Root Canal

If bacteria gets inside the root canal area it can infect the dental pulp. When this soft tissue becomes infected it is important to remove it in order to avoid further spreading, and ultimately preserve the structure of the natural tooth. We offer full Root Canal treatment.
